Insomnia is a widespread disease among adults and children, which can significantly harm human health and reduce the quality of life. Under this term is understood not only the lack of sleep, but also its violations: premature awakening, interrupted or shallow sleep, which also leads to various problems – depression, irritability, weakened immunity.

Insomnia: eliminate the causes

There are more than 30 causes of sleep disorders – among them are stress and anxiety, neurological diseases and diseases of internal organs, taking medications, abuse of stimulating substances (alcohol, nicotine, caffeine), as well as external factors. Before fighting insomnia, it is necessary to find out its cause, and first of all – pay attention to the state of health. If there are no obvious violations in the work of internal organs and nervous system, you need to look for the cause outside.

A very common phenomenon – lack of fatigue, hence, and the desire to sleep. This may be due to a sedentary lifestyle, late rising, daytime sleep, or age-related changes (with years for sleep requires less time). It is necessary to find out how many hours a day the body needs to rest, and try to go to bed and get up at the same time every day. The next thing to do when dealing with insomnia is to examine your sleeping place. The mattress should be moderately hard, ideally – orthopedic, as well as a pillow. The bed is better to move away from the battery, position the headboard to the north or east. The room should not be hot, before going to bed the room should be ventilated. Near the head is not advised to keep working electrical appliances, including cell phones, as their magnetic field can disrupt sleep. Quick relaxation is promoted by silence and darkness, in their absence you can use a blindfold and earplugs.

Sleeping pills and sedatives for insomnia

The choice of sleeping pills should be approached with caution, as these drugs can provoke a lot of problems: cause addiction, lead to more disorders of the nervous system, entail associated diseases. For this reason, sleeping pills are released strictly on prescription, as well as strong sedatives.
